Description
This is a rare and highly unusual set of original 4×6 color photographs documenting one of the most significant events of the Iraq War: the capture of Saddam Hussein. These are not mass-produced press photos but appear to be original prints from a US Army soldier’s private collection. The set includes visceral images of a disheveled Saddam Hussein shortly after his discovery in the “spider hole” during Operation Red Dawn including a close-up of his medical examination. Additionally the collection features a photo of the soldier shaking hands with Hillary Clinton during a USO or diplomatic visit and candid shots of military personnel in theater with equipment and weapons. These images offer a raw unedited perspective of the conflict that is rarely seen in public archives. The photos are in excellent vintage condition with sharp colors and clear details.
