Description
Antique I. Wilson Sycamore Street Sheffield England Curved Leather / Cobbler Knife
An authentic, late 19th to early 20th-century trade tool produced by one of Sheffield’s most celebrated industrial cutlery makers, I. Wilson. Established on Sycamore Street in Sheffield, England, I. Wilson was internationally renowned for superior hand-forged crucible carbon steel, supplying professional tradesmen across the British Empire and the United States.
This specialized craftsman’s knife features a hand-forged, curved hawkbill/skiving blade designed specifically for heavy-duty leatherworking, shoe cobbling, saddlery, and harness trimming. The blade face bears a crisp, deep die-struck maker’s mark reading: “I. WILSON / SYCAMORE ST / SHEFFIELD ENGLAND” alongside the historic Four Peppercorns and Diamond corporate trademark (• ◊ •).
The blade is mounted into its original flat-sided beech/hardwood slab scales, firmly secured through the full flat tang by two steel pins. The wood displays a rich, honest working patina with natural edge softening from decades of craftsmen’s hands.
