Brief History: The Ahnenerbe, whose full name translates to "Ancestral Heritage Research and Teaching Society," was a pseudo-scientific organization founded in 1935 in Nazi Germany. It was closely affiliated with the SS and its chief, Heinrich Himmler. The primary goal of the Ahnenerbe was to research the archaeological and cultural history of the Aryan race and later to experiment and launch expeditions to prove that prehistoric and mythological Nordic populations had once ruled the world.

During WWII, the Ahnenerbe undertook numerous projects, from archeological expeditions to medical experiments in concentration camps. Their ventures spanned across various regions, including Scandinavia, which might explain the 'Norge' inscription - Norge being the Norwegian name for Norway. The organization sought to validate the superiority of the Aryan race through science, history, and mythology.

While the Ahnenerbe's "research" was mainly biased and unscientific, it played a significant role in Nazi propaganda, offering a pseudo-scientific foundation for Nazi ideology. After the war, many of its members faced war crime charges due to their involvement in the inhumane experiments.

The presence of this ring, bearing the 'Norge' inscription and associated with the Ahnenerbe, is indicative of the organization's reach and its influence during WWII. This piece serves not only as a relic of the period but also as a sobering reminder of the lengths to which propaganda and distorted beliefs can steer society.
