World War II Inside Germany

World War II Inside Germany

World War II in Germany began on September 1, 1939, when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. Germany was lead by Adolf Hitler, who sought to expand the German empire and create a "Third Reich" that would last 1,000 years. The war quickly escalated as Germany invaded other countries, including France, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The war had a devastating impact on Germany. The Allied Forces began bombing German cities in 1940, causing widespread destruction and thousands of civilian deaths.

In the latter part of the war, German cities were also targeted by Russian forces, resulting in even more destruction. The German military suffered massive losses, with millions of soldiers killed, wounded, or captured. The war ended when Germany surrendered on May 8, 1945, following the Allied victory in Europe. The aftermath of the war was also devastating for Germany. The country was divided into Communist East Germany and democratic West Germany, and the process of rebuilding the country and its economy was long and difficult.
